Hi jgart,

I also noticed this error last night and assumed it must have been
because of the changes I'd made, but I just reverted and am still seeing
it, so may have been there for a while. I'd love your help here as this
is a bit over my head. The package seems to build and run ok. It's just
when --check is added that this error shows up.

On the plus side, the package definition is now much more compact,
thanks to your and Raghav's help, so hopefully less places for problems
to hide.
