I'm using 1.0.8 and am a bit puzzled as to the behavior I'm seeing when
moving the cursor to the left with the arrow key or backspacing. It moves
along just fine for a while then skips 5 or 6 columns. If I'm
backspacing, the 5 or 6 characters that were skipped are still shown on
the screen. If I continue to backspace to the left, they disappear after
the rest of the line is deleted.
To show you where this happens I take the following lines:
|
\|/
0123456789012345678901234567890123456789
0 1 2 3
and start with the cursor at the end of the first line and hold down the
backspace key. This is what I get after deleting part of the line:
|
\|/
01234567 901234
0 1 2 3
That "901234" should not be there; I backspaced right through it.
This is on a RedHat 7.1 i686 system. I tried using both a binary
I downloaded and compiling the source myself, but I get the same behavior.
I can use Pico on the same system without any problems.
I also run Debian testing on another computer and I don't have any
problems with using Nano on that.
I hope this information helps. I really like Nano but this backspace bug
is annoying. It's forcing me to use Pico (on RedHat) at work and Nano
(on Debian) at home. I don't think it's on the bug list but I apologize
if I missed it and this email is redundant. Keep up the good work.
