Using binary search, applying bits of the big patch and checking whether
the bug got fixed, I find the problem was in winio.c:edit_refresh(). The
new version is attached. I don't know specifically what the problem was.
(Also, I don't know whether the new version causes other bugs when applied
by itself. It's taken straight from the big patch.)
