Yes, that is a third thing that I didn't like about patch. But obscuring
the place where the cursor was is even worse.

Oof, another complication.

Not enabling help in those cases would be strange -- the user probably
would not realize why mostly the help lines appear when entering a menu
but sometimes not.
So, all in all, I think I'm going to park this patch and only implement
the "forcing" of the help lines for the linter.
