Follow-up Comment #9, bug #62468 (project octave):

No, as far as I can tell, Shampine does not use h0. It is always just (b-a),
as there the test is written in untransformed coordinates. In transformed
coordinates it simply becomes 1 or 2, which is here called h. One would have
to do code archaeology to see when this definition of h0 was added to octave's
code, and whether it was used for something at that time.
