Thanks, Hartmut for confirming this.
I will open a new bug report. I wrote it here because this is the reason for
the incompatibilities you have mentioned in comment#13.

I have checked that for all 3x3, 4x4, and 5x5 binary images, the Octave result
is the same as the Matlab result, and all the incompatibilities will disappear
after applylut will be fixed.
