[Octave-bug-tracker] [bug #63129] Install on Windows 10 breaks permissio

Subject: [Octave-bug-tracker] [bug #63129] Install on Windows 10 breaks permissions of temp folder
Date: Tue, 4 Oct 2022 10:55:53 -0400 (EDT)

Follow-up Comment #17, bug #63129 (project octave):

If I thought there was a confirmed exploit I probably would have raised
severity to 6-Security. I raised it to 4-important because it's creating a
persistent, corrupt permissions state affecting part of the operating system
outside of octave itself for (it seems) everyone who has used the 7.2.0
executable installer. it created system configuration errors for me on viewing
permissions settings in Temp, and there's another report that might be related
indicating more significant system impact. (bug #63148). With Windows being
Windows I would not doubt that any impact all be highly variable with
particular setup and security model. I was not insisting the installer be
pulled, but felt the question was worth raising.

I looked back at another system that I believed used the v6 installers, and
didn't see the issue, but I haven't started stepping back through each to
verify when it might have started.
