Follow-up Comment #13, bug #63281 (project octave):

maybe a side topic, but the bsxfun in center was also implemented to catch the
same issue with Octave's diagonal matrix type. is there a test like issparse
that can be used on a diagonal matrix? isdiag doesn't actually test the matrix
type. not a compatibility concern, but if we're going to capture sparseness
preservation, is diagonal type preservation able to be tested for too?
