Follow-up Comment #20, bug #61370 (project octave):

There are probably many issues with race conditions in Octave. Afaict, jwe is
currently working on some of them related to the GUI settings.
One fix will probably not fix all of the issues. But we need to start
somewhere.
Imho, this patch is a step in the right direction. But it's just one step (of
many more to hopefully come).
