Hi - the command seems to do the trick but an error message pops up anyway,
see attached or below. I did similar commands earlier without error message,
and once it appears the first time,  it keeps coming back. 

[jo1] = plot([1:3],[1:3],";obs2;"),
set(jo1,'linestyle','none','marker','o','color','k')

jo1 = -483.40
error: scalar cannot be indexed with {
execution error in graphics callback function
