Follow-up Comment #28:
I have pushed "patchset_big.patch" to default (Octave 9) at
https://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/5f0b8101234e under Reinhard's
name.
As described in the previous comment, this is everything except for the code
in comment #26, which needs someone to examine it and say whether it needs to
be fixed or deleted.
With TSAN, the patched code gives fewer warnings than the unpatched one.
Please test this patchset. Will wait for CI.
