Follow-up Comment #5:

The case in comment #4 has a wrong syntax as the variable s is used in the
coefficient vector (and was set to j*w?). The original filter design procedure
given in the link works as expected.

The case described in the original post is possible in the current version
3.5.2. However, the tf-form of the resulting system, tf(myss) is incorrect and
"drops" the imaginary parts of the entries in the system matrix A.
