Follow-up Comment #54, bug #31080 (project octave):

[~OT]
Yes this is an oldie :-)
I'd celebrate it, this is one from the "ergonomy" category and I think quite a
few users have hit this bug over the years, with reports scattered over
several bug reports (incl. duplicates) and mailing list(s) threads.

But I'm quite sure that there must be still older open bugs, just not listed
on Savannah ... some of those might have resurfaced as younger bug reports.
Maybe it applies to this one as well.
I have no clear recollection of when the Octave project started using
Savannah. Could be that we used s/th from SourceForge before that.
There used to be a mailing list "bug-octave@octave.org", in my archive I have
emails with that address back to at least 2009. Even older emails mention
(IIRC) JWE's former uni affilations but the project might not have had a
dedicated bug mailing list then, let alone bug tracker.
[/OT]

BTW I'd feel a little more sure if nrjank could also confirm the behavior I
see. Although releases 8.1.0 and 9.1.0 (dev) clearly behave differently.
