I didn't read the original comment #0. Just answered your latest comment.

Looking at the build log from comment #0, the error is *not* thrown in
Octave's `__makeinfo__.m`. It is caused by the command `makeinfo
../doc/parallel.texi -o ../doc/parallel.info`. That command is likely from a
Makefile rule.
The file it is complaining about is `doc/parallel.texi`. You could probably
have a look at it by inspecting the content of the package tarball.

I don't know what's the issue though. Maybe, what John wrote in comment #4?
