Follow-up Comment #6, bug #64525 (project octave):

Sure, go ahead and add a note to the NEWS file.  The change was made on the
development branch precisely because it might be de-stabilizing to existing
code.  However, when programmers update major versions of Octave they can
expect greater changes.
