Follow-up Comment #14, bug #64692 (project octave):

After 30+ years of trying and failing to exactly match Matlab behavior with
regard to floating point ranges, I can only conclude that they are harmful and
should be avoided, *especially* if you are given only the initial value, an
increment, and a final target value to aim for but that might not be an
element of the final set of values.

I'm beginning to think Octave should unconditionally issue a loud warning when
a range is specified with non-integer values.
