Follow-up Comment #3, bug #64709 (project octave):

Should we fail early (i.e., while running the configure script) if one of the
flags is `--disable-shared` or `--enable-static`?

Do those flags affect how the Octave libraries are built? Or do they affect
how dependencies are linked?
