Follow-up Comment #13, bug #64735 (project octave):

 __enter_io__  could be a typo. Good catch BTW, I'm pondering about a new io
package release and this can be mended as well then.
ATM I can't look it up but in the io package log on SourceForge it can be
easily found if I'm to blame :-)

About stack size and javachk.m:
If it is true what you say, perhaps javachk.m could be adapted to leave stack
size alone. Or maybe such functionality had better be added to 
libinterp/octave-value/__ov_java__.cc . 
There's a lot going on behind one's back when using Java. E.g., several years
ago we had different creepy Java bugs related to (IIRC) silently fiddling with
processor flags during the JVM init process.
