Follow-up Comment #9, bug#64882 (group octave):

As a developer, I'm fine moving up to C++17.  gcc 9.1 was the first to support
C++17 and that version was released May 3, 2019 so almost 5 years ago.  For
anyone really concerned about performance, they should be updating their
hardware and software more frequently than that.
