Follow-up Comment #26, bug#65277 (group octave):

It sounds like three different issues are discussed in this report by now:
1. Hartmut's original issue (which is resolved now iiuc)
2. The issue that jwe and Torsten are describing sounds very similar and might
be the same.
3. The issue that Dmitri is describing sounds quite different from issue 2.

(Neither issue 2 nor 3 reproduce for me here on Windows 11.)

Discussing many different issues in the same report can get pretty confusing
imho. Could you please open dedicated reports for the issues you are seeing?
(For both problems: Does switching the setting for native file dialogs (on the
"General" tab of the "Preferences" dialog) make a difference? ISTR that they
caused a wide range of different symptoms for some users in the past.)
