[Octave-bug-tracker] [bug #65312] "__run_test_suite__" ran in GUI hangs Octave in some configurations

Follow-up Comment #11, bug#65312 (group octave):

Started a Ubuntu 23.10 VM and I'm seeing the same.

The file browser starts flashing during `__run_test_suite__`, sometimes it
eventually stays blank, and the Octave process seems frozen.

@Dmitri: That is the expected behavior. The function returns the value that a
property had before it is changed (to facilitate restoring the value
afterwards).
But I noticed that changes to "filesdockwidget/sync_octave_directory" with
that function don't have an effect until I restart Octave or I open and close
the preferences dialog. I don't know if that is expected. (But like I wrote
earlier, that approach is a workaround at best and doesn't actually solve the
underlying issue.)
