The crash was originally reported in bug #65421, but it looks to be a separate
issue. The original report was for Window 8.4; I can reproduce it on linux
(different OS/hardware) with the latest 9.0.91 snapshot. 
Onn Centos Stream 9 / proprietary Nvidia driver:


  octave:1> hgload sphere_crash.ofig 

Thread 9 "QThread" received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
