Follow-up Comment #49, bug #65431 (group octave):

I need to let you know that, for a data with face input, it is impossible to
extract the vertex properties from the existing info.  However, for a data
with vertex input, it is feasible to construct face properties.  It is not
always a two-way traffic.

When there is no way to convert to input data format that the software will
take, crash or no crash becomes irrelevant.
