Thanks, you are right, by following the patches in m4/acinclude.m4 at various
stages I saw that the dist tarball was fine but in a last step mxe-octave must
have picked up another tarball - the patch was missing in tmp-default-octave.

With that issue fixed (wrong symlink in this debug setup), default-octave now
gets built fine (that is, it says '[done]' and started building openblas),
however using an older mxe-octave revision. But looking at the later csets I
think it'll work.

Sorry for the confusion at my side and thanks for your accurate assessment.

Just to be sure I'll again restart the build with an up-to-date mxe-octave and
will report back later.
