Follow-up Comment #2, bug #65546 (group octave):
I recommend converting those files to UTF-8 encoding. If there are only a few
files you should be able to open them in Notepad and save with "UTF-8"
encoding, if there are lots you should investigate a command-line utility
"iconv" (included with octave distribution).
