Sure there is. You still have the original message text. The original
text should be copied to the clipboard if the user selects
bold/underlined/whatever text. After all, this is X11 -- what sort of
uniform way do we have of noting non-standard text? None at all! :)

Neither do I, but I'd very much like to see the *perceived* (read that
as boldface ;) benefit of having these text markups parsed and rendered
as enhanced text. In other words, I realize it's only cosmetic, but lots
of people use this pseudo-markup and so I would like to see Pan handle it.
