Check out the options under "Automatic Downloads" on the first tab
(Behavior) of the prefs dialog. It's worded slightly differently, but its
there. I have all four of those options turned OFF, so group status stays
the way I LEAVE it, no matter HOW many times I enter and leave the group,
as long as I don't fetch new overviews (aka, wrongly, "headers") or
"sync", manually.
