Please kill the HTML garbage when posting to this list. If it's not
worth posting in plain text, perhaps with /links/ to web pages or
attached images if necessary, it's not worth posting, and for others, not
worth reading and possibly worth kill-filing (for repeat violators here,
in pan it's down-scoring to ignore status, which then can be auto-deleted
or auto-marked-read).

Meanwhile, no change that I'm aware of, tho of course it's possible to
hide read messages, in which case the top-most /unread/ message in a
thread will be the sort-by (as long as threading is on, of course).

If you want sort by date ignoring thread date, as I suggested in the
reply to the linked post, unthread, and you'll get just that, raw post
date sorting.

FWIW, pan development has again pretty much stalled, as Heinrich Mueller,
who did so much, including introducing long planned features, has
apparently pretty much moved on. Petr Kovar is still lead pan dev from
the gnome perspective, but he's more a translator than a dev and really
only stepped in because there was no one else who wanted the position
(Heinrich wasn't interested even when he was very active, neither was
KHaley, and while I'm a long-time pan user and list contributor, I'm not
a dev and tend to lean more to kde than gnome, so am not interested in a
gnome position either), and mostly simply merges pull requests from
others. And (as a live-git pan user) those pull requests have been
pretty limited lately, a few bug fixes and code updates to work with
newer compilers and system libs, not much more.
