You are aware that $1 has a whole family:

  doit() {
     process "$@"
     analyze output "$@"
     if good; then
        return 0
     else
        return 1
     fi
  }
  export -f doit

  parallel --halt 1 doit --option {1} --opt {2} --ion {3} ::: args :::
args2 ::: args3
