yes sorry - I forget to write that it is 14 code.

The mysql is a 4.0.14-standard with no special settings.

I have tried to do inserts with double quotes via the my sql control center
with the same result,
that mysql takes them as special characters in the same way as the single
quotes.
So such inserts end up with parsing errors.

Anyone has expierience with this?

I also looked deeply into the SQL BNF grammar - with no luck,
because it seems this part is not 100% clear defined :(
