Well i personally think that the xslt stuff in head is not ideal by today's standards of XML web features. The thing is that developers now depend on it, so it wouldnt be unfair to change it. Lets keep api dependancies necessary to support already existing development for head and then do all that you put up here. Please don't break the xslt support - all my work the last two years is dependent of this to work.
Precisely, we shouldnt break it. It would be unfair. I agree...
What i mean is that its probably not worth it to port more apps to head-like xslt templates if thats gonna go for nextgen in a completely different direction. Just support them for legacy, make shure stuff works, put the code out and move on to nextgen. It is fairly simple to port from HEAD (xslt) to nextgen (proposal-branch), one has to tweak the stylesheets a bit - but the main challenge is the use of safeargs
Thats the point. It would be easyer in the long run for existing head-xslt compliant apps to port to nextgen, than for everybody to go for head-xslt and then go all over again to some other, better xslt support.
But the main thing here is support headlike xslt until it makes sense for legacy (like yours r CK) apps to port to nextgen.
