There are not any messages in the Apache Error Log.

This is all that is in the access log.

64.45.208.201 - - [31/Dec/2002:20:37:53 -0600] "POST
/index.php?menuaction=email.bosend.send&fldball[folder]=INBOX&fldball[acctnum]=0&sort=1&order=1&start=0&sessionid=e782f629d69a3c8bf9c9862fdefe499b&kp3=aa7074ebfce56bb954dfb9ed94ca6ad1&domain=linuxgrp.net

 "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0.1) Gecko/20021003"

In the to field, I have a single email address only. I have the same problem
when I click reply (without changing to field at all).

It install, I ectracted the tgz, then modified the header.inc.php (renamed the
.template). The only changes I had are to the database settings and added a
second domain.

I am not sure what is going on with your install.

For the smtp error i think this is caused by a comma (,) after the username you
are trying to send to.

What errors are generated when you try to use compose? check you logs for
apache or php errors

Cheers
