Agreed, there's no point in the duplicate link.

I'm actually inclined to change the "design" of the tree view quite a
bit, so maybe I'll try to add some icons while at it (and patches are
always appreciated).

That's correct. It shouldn't be hard to add some basic template
support (i.e. custom header and footer elements), though. Is this
something which would be useful for savannah?
