[Savannah-hackers] CVS not working

The instructions at: 

http://gcc.gnu.org/cvs.html#wwwdocs

seem to be incorrect. Specifying:

-d:ext:address@hidden:/cvsroot/cvs

as a command line argument to cvs results in:

Invalid CVSROOT (1)
cvs checkout: invalid data from cvs server

Whereas, using:

export CVSROOT=:ext:address@hidden:/cvsroot

results in:

cvs checkout: in directory `gcc':
cvs checkout: `..'-relative repositories are not supported.
cvs [checkout aborted]: invalid source repository
