Yes that makes things a bit clearer but that idea of dynamic linking
but not loading is cunfusion for another day's discussion. But I may
try and build the speech-dispatcher package with just --with-libao and
see if the config.log looks the same. I think with a prior compile I
tried --with-libao alone and had what I thought looked the same but
not sure now.
I haven't had a lot of intimate practice with building and linking of
libraries other than what existing Makefiles do. I've lately mainly
been programming with Perl and the like lately.
