Was just wondering if any thought had been given to relicensing some of
the Speech-Dispatcher libraries to LGPL rather than GPL?
I'm pondering working on a Java app which, for various reasons, needs to
be self-voicing. I'm not sure of the status of the SD Java library, but
when last I looked it was GPL.
I won't start a licensing war here, but were I to develop my app it
wouldn't be GPL, meaning I'd have to re-invent the wheel. Also, since
I'm not a Java fan, my code would probably be of less use to the
community at large as it'd be written in Scala. So, were I to do this
and donate the SD library back to the community, rather than having a
generically useful Java library you'd only have a partial Scala
implementation that only supported what I'd need for self-voicing, which
would probably be of less use than would be a more generic library.
Thoughts?
