Speechd-el not reading buffer insertions

Hello,

I have set the variable speechd-speak-buffer-insertions to always, 
however, incoming IRC messages in the ERC client are not automatically 
spoken. It speaks only the first changed line, forcing me to go back 
with the up arrow to read everything.

Using Emacs 23.2 with speechd-el from git, 13 september.
