Technically, this is the correct form. "He" is the correct pronoun to
use for a generic first person singular. Another language that does the
same thing is Spanish.
Unfortunately, as stated in another message, the generic "he/his" has
become a purely political issue, and someone out there will probably be
offended if you use it.
