Yes. We need a cross-platform audio library with multiple backends.
Sound output shouldn't be Speech Dispatcher's problem. Libao would
probably fit the bill, if it had a stop function.

As far as I can tell, there is no libao mailing list. There's a list
for practically every other xiph.org project, but not libao.
They do have an issue tracker; maybe it could be raised there.
