If tramp needs md5, should this be included in the contrib directory?

From
 http://www.gnu.org/manual/elisp-manual-21-2.8/html_node/elisp_539.html
it appears that emacs 21 has a md5 function (I'm still in the dark
ages of 20.7.1).

md5 is a built-in function in XEmacs. The earliest version I've looked at is 20.0, June 1996.
