Using \begin{spad} ... \end{spad} does not do any harm.

The entry labelled "verbatim::" in the point-and-click menu
under the Text column is an attempt to help you remember the
right way to do this. Click on the word "verbatim" and it
will insert the necessary text.

That would be ok.

Although this will work, I do not recommend it. {verbatim} will
be interpreted by LaTeX in the same way as \begin{equation} and
rendered on the Axiom Wiki as an image. You might not like the
appearance of the result.

The standard way according the the Structured Text conventions
is to use '::' like this::

  Should I use::

    CODE GOES HERE

Note that blank line and the indentation of the CODE.
