Yes it's probably a future project, but not too much in the future I guess.

And remember, you *don't* want to call

  latex --src-special file.spad.tex

because then all you get is \specials that lead you from kdvi to the 
.tex file and not to the .pamphlet file. The trick is to use srcltx.sty 
and a good naming scheme for the .pamphlet - .tex relation. I could 
convince the current maintainer of srcltx.sty to include an appropriate 
hook for filename translation into srcltx.sty version 1.6.
