The idea is ok, but it seems to me you missed the most important
thing: the whole point was having a means to have a single line
describe both the option and percent face of a single feature.
Your proposal is an artificial means to have a single table contains
two disjoint tables. That's not OK with me.
And you are right: touching getopt is forbidden, but it's OK.
Creating the table at runtime is fine, it sure is non noticeable IMHO.
