You were way past me, I'm afraid. To be honest I didn't even
understand the difference between --trace and --report.
My usual rule of thumb is that if a feature requires natural-language
output, it is a "user" feature and not a "developer" feature. (This
habit saves the hassle of having to decide which strings to translate.
