No, my teTeX 3.0 based system works correctly. Otherwise it could have 
failed during making of AUCTeX 11.81. Chances are that my TeX system is 
partly broken because I am kind of a beta tester of what Gerben Wierda 
releases, and I don't have enough test cases ... but it seems to work 
right.

At least I think \language=0 is not appropriate. A more contents 
sensible approach looks more sensible.

The region I marked up looked to be valid LaTeX code, so I assumed 
preview-latex could change it into a graphic insert ...
