No, there are no plans for multi-file support. My current plans are to 
make GNU ed as simple and bug free as possible.

Andrew Moore no more maintains GNU ed; he resigned as maintainer. He has 
been unable to release a new version of ed since 1994. Not even to fix 
the symlink vulnerability discovered by Alan Cox in 2000. Inexplicably, 
Andrew is still trying to appear as the maintainer of GNU ed. He is even 
writing about future plans and sending to this list patches against his 
private source code.
