Yes, I'm aware of that. I think we're misunderstanding each other :-)

With your suggested procedure importing a SGG file from \Program
Files\Gamesgrid\Saved Games followed by save settings will set the
default SGG path to \Program Files\Gamesgrid\Saved Games.

Agree?

My objection is that suppose you go on to import a SGG file from
C:\download. Later in the same session you do some changes to analysis
options, and save settings. Now you have overwritten the default SGG
path \Program Files\Gamesgrid\Saved Games with c:\download.

The current procedure is somewhat similar to the behaviour of other
windows programs. For example, when saving a document in Microsoft Visio
it'll suggested something in "C:\Documents and Settings\jth\My
Documents" (so in gnubg nomenclature this is the default path). If I
wish to change the default path to something else I have to open
Tools->Options and go to the File Paths tab and change the appropriate
path there. The only differences with respect to gnubg is that

(a) Microsfot Visio always start in "C:\Documents and Settings\jth\My
Documents" whereas gnubg will start in the directory where you last time
saved a file in this session.

(b) Microsoft Visio doesn't have a "Set Path as default" button for
conviniently setting the current path as default path.

I really don't like with

1) Import an .sgg match from a select directory
2) Select Settings
3) Select Save Settings and it will remember my preferred directory.

that just importing a file will change my settings (of course, if I
don't save settings gnubg will not remember it next time).
I very much prefer having to set options it explicitly :-)

Maybe it's just me that are old-fashioned ;-)

Any comments from the other list readers?
