I've had a go, here's an example showing 6 of the 8 styles:

And a more contrived example showing multiple styles per line:

Small correction: the correct URLs are

http://www.jonsphotos.org.uk/bg/Image1.png
http://www.jonsphotos.org.uk/bg/Image2.png

(capital I)

You're all too quick, I changed the filenames a minute a go...

All the colours are easily changable by the user, so setting all of one type to a single colour, removing some or whatever will be easy. I like the idea of having a good mix as the default, to make it clear they can all be set differently.

It would probably be helpful with some comments in the gnubg.gtkrc file
and possibly some extended examples inside these comments, so the users
get a grasp of what's can be done if they want to fool around with
gnubg.gtkrc themselves :-)

I'll add some.

Cool work! - and you can now remove an entry from the TODO file :-)

It needs a bit more testing with gtk1+2, it works fine with my msdev build, but not 100% with mingw... I'll check in the latest small changes later today (multiple styles + rc file).
