I think what Nic is looking for is to use mail like:

$ mail -f imap://localhost -H
mail (mailutils) 0.0.9c, Copyright (C) 2001 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
mail is free software with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY.
For details type `warranty'.
Send bug reports to <address@hidden>.
Cc:

So he can read imap and pop boxes.

But, I don't seem to be able to use mail to do anything but send
mail, which it always tries to do. So, I think the -f switch is
still broken.

Cheers,
Sam
