Hi Gery,

I haven't been following this discussion so will
guess that you want to convert a CVS project to git.
There are instructions here:

  https://savannah.gnu.org/maintenance/UsingGit

See the "Importing from CVS" section.

That will probably work for you.  Check carefully, including any branches
you care about.  If it doesn't "just work", let me know and I'll take
a look.  If your CVS repository has been munged manually (e.g., files
moved into/from Attic, files tagged manually) then "git cvsimport"
may not convert properly.  I've used a hacked version of parsecvs to
convert some of the more problematic repositories.
